Our History
The Hatton Arms has been at the heart of the village of Hatton since the early eighteenth century and throughout that time has been the centre of village life.
Restaurant
The buildings have been extended over the years most notably in 1995 when the village post office and the adjoining cottage were incorporated in the business and the Hunters Restaurant was opened.
Today the tradition continues but with tasteful modern touches.
The Coat of Arms of the Hatton family
The Hatton Arms – The coat of arms of the Hatton family dates back to the times of the Norman Conquest in the 11th century – a yellow chevron and three wheatsheaves on a blue background – with the family motto – “To have a conscience free from guilt”.
Interestingly some of the first settlers in Virginia USA in 1613 were from the Hatton family.
More recently the Hatton Arms was eulogized by an Australian poet – Lachlan Cranswick – as a place where you can “live like a king”.
We hope you will feel the same experience!
